(Turkey) the Second National Symposium on Dam Safety. Sadafzar
Company (Sisgeo distributor for I.R. Iran) in the person of Mr
Shahab Attaie, will present the paper:
MONITORING INSTRUMENTATION RESULTS IN MOLLASADRA
DAM
EMBANKMENTUNDER OPERATION STAGE |
Here following the paper abstract:
Dams are expected to safely withstand the potentially enormous forces created by impounded water for many years. Safety of dams is dependent on various factors which require to be analyzed constantly. Many assumptions are obviously made in the analysis and design of a dam and many deviations are normally made in implementation of the design. Not to overemphasize, instrumentation is the best way of checking whether design assumptions made were optimized or not; and controlling its safety during operation. Indeed, the main purpose of instrumentation installed within a dam is to study whether or not the dam is according to design predictions. To control the safety of dams and their appurtenant structures during construction, impounding and operation stages, it is essential to accurately design, adequately supply, correctly install, carefully collect and interpolate the data and finally provide a real behavioral analysis of the dam. This paper briefly describes the specification and instrumentation program of Mollasadra dam, an embankment dam constructed in Fars province of Iran, and presents studying the behavior of dam based on obtained records instrumentation during first impounding and operation of dam. Some interpretation also will be discussed.
